MEMORIES
Memory from Robin Reynolds
Rob was my professor at MassArt from 1988-89. He was a god to me! I was doing abstract work with many different kinds of materials and he convinced me to take my work off the wall and start making 3D work instead in the painting department. He was also taking his work from 2-D to 3-D at that time and creating painted sculptures. I started using hay, reeds, rope and dirt and making totem like pieces. I remember him saying, please make sure you close the door so no one sees you as I was a huge fire threat waiting to happen! I ended up receiving the David Berger Memorial Fund Award and the Award for Excellence in Painting during my tutelage under Rob.
Sadly to say, I moved to Hawaii for a year after MassArt and when I came back to ask for a recommendation from Rob he already had been very ill and was in the hospital. Such a huge loss for the art world and especially for other art students. He was simply the best!
